Sunsets are nature’s grand finale, a daily spectacle that never fails to captivate our hearts. Just like many, I find myself mesmerized by the vibrant colors and the peaceful serenity they bring.  Join me on this journey and see the stunning San Diego sunset along this scenic route.

Starting Point

My adventure began at the Del Mar Civic Center, a perfect starting point for this picturesque run. Not only does it offer a convenient location, but it also provides a free parking garage for those driving to the area. Plus, if you happen to have an electric vehicle, there are chargers available, making it a green-friendly choice for all.

The Scenic Route

As I set off from the Del Mar Civic Center, I was greeted by the cool ocean breeze and the promise of an awe-inspiring sunset ahead. The route took me through several charming coastal communities, each with its unique charm:

1. Del Mar: Del Mar, with its pristine beaches and upscale vibe, set the tone for a relaxing and scenic run. The waves crashing against the shore created a soothing soundtrack to my journey.

2. Solana Beach: Solana Beach offered a blend of natural beauty and artistic culture. The vibrant art scene here is a treat for the eyes, adding an extra layer of charm to the run.

3. Cardiff by the Sea: Cardiff by the Sea is a hidden gem along the route. Its rugged coastline and dramatic cliffs make it a must-visit spot for anyone chasing the perfect sunset.

4. Encinitas: The final leg of my run took me through the laid-back town of Encinitas. With its friendly locals and surf culture, it’s the perfect place to wind down after an exhilarating run.

There is plenty of free street parking, restrooms and water fountains along this course.

• Swami’s Beach
• Moonlight State Beach.
