Would a Buyer Pay More for a Staged Home?
I was in a meeting with some of the top REALTORS in San Diego and they were having this very debate about staging. More specifically, would a buyer pay more for a staged home?
So, knowing me, I did some research. I researched vacant homes in some neighborhoods near me that sold in May 2022. May is when the prices in San Diego peaked and if a buyer was willing to pay more for a home, it would have been in May.
Data From Staged and Empty Homes in May 2022

Conclusions From the Data
While it’s a small sample size, here’s some initial conclusions:
– The Sales Price / Original List Price ratio was 3% higher for staged homes compared to empty homes
– A 3% increase in sales price on the average $1.2M home would be $36,000!
– Staged homes sold faster
– The staging investment was more often made on the higher priced homes
