Tiny houses were approved to be parked on a lot in San Diego to combat the affordable housing crisis. The approval was unanimously passed by San Diego City Council on July 21.
The movement towards ADUs and tiny houses is targeted towards creating affordable housing. They should only be used for long term rentals over 30 days. However, to date, there have been 30 property owners cited for violating the ban on short term rentals.
