Del Mar Racing Season   Through Sep. 2
This season features the nation’s top race horses, trainers and jockeys, and plenty of fun in the sun.

Julian StarFest   Aug. 1-3
Camping availability for tent and RV campers. Exhibits by major telescope and accessory vendors. Food and beverage vendors. Astronomy games and crafts for kids. Raffle for donated astronomy equipment on Saturday. Optional behind the scenes tour of the world famous Palomar Observatory on Saturday.

Carlsbad Music Festival   Aug. 2-4
Features dozens of performances of creative music of all kinds curated by CMF Founder and Artistic Director, composer/violinist Matt McBane. The weekend includes free indoor and outdoor concerts at various venues, beer garden, food trucks, artisan market, and pop-up art gallery.

Balboa Park 8 Miler Aug. 3
The Balboa 8 Miler is the longest consecutively run race in San Diego and the only one that offers a full tour of Balboa Park!  Enjoy a unique and challenging route through Balboa Park’s scenic trails, bridges and windy roads. Participants receive a 50/50 blend event t-shirt and a custom finisher’s medal.

The Great Inflatable Race San Diego   Aug. 3
You and your friends will feel like kids again as you jump, dive and bounce on our custom-designed inflatables.
Time/Place: 9am-12pm / SDCCU Stadium

Lake Poway Family Campout Aug. 3-4
Enjoy outdoor fun in a family-friendly environment. Activities include guided evening hikes, campfire with s’mores, and Extreme Rahim returns with his family pleasing magic/comedy show. Remember to bring your own camping equipment, dinner supplies to barbeque, and grill/charcoal.

Chula Vista Lemon Festival   Aug. 4
Sport your brightest yellow outfit and enjoy lemon-infused treats as you stroll and enjoy hundreds of vendor booths, live bands, sour contests, a kid’s grove of fun, and the festivals lemony adult beverage stand.

Oceanside International Film Festival   Aug. 7-11
Features, documentaries, shorts, animation, and student works along with workshops and after-parties.

Tiki Oasis 2019 Aug. 7-11
Tiki Oasis is the largest and longest-running festival in the world for lovers of Island lifestyle and purveyors of Polynesian Pop. Wednesday night opens at the historic Bali Hai. Thursday – Sunday at the Crowne Plaza offers daytime events such as DJs, 100+ vendors, educational seminars, car show, and tropical cocktails by the pool.

Heiva San Diego   Aug. 9-11
A Polynesian celebration representing Tahiti as the bridge between French Polynesia and the US and sharing our culture with the community. We celebrate friendship, music, dancing, drumming, singing, arts & crafts and islands spirits!
Time/Place: 8am-8pm / Broadway Street Pier

National City Automobile Heritage Day Festival & Car Show   Aug. 10
Join us for live music, food from a variety of popular eateries, entertainment for children and specialty booths. A drive-by awards ceremony at 2pm will showcase first-place winners for each of the classes as well as second- and third-place winners.

Imperial Beach Surf Dog Competition   Aug. 10
More than 60 dogs are expected to participate in this family friendly event, which raises funds for the San Diego Humane Society.
Time/Place: 8am-3pm / Next to the Imperial Beach Pier

ArtWalk @ Liberty Station   Aug. 10-11
More than 200 international, national and local San Diego artists, showcasing every medium including painting, sculpture, glass work, fine jewelry, photography and more. Attendees will also be able to enjoy live music, interactive art for kids and the kids at heart, street food options and a wine and beer pavilion.

Chula Vista Challenge Half Triathlon   Aug. 11
A fresh new race experience for individuals and relay teams, with 10 races to choose from including International, Sprint, & Youth Triathlons, Duathlon, Aqua Bike.

Hillcrest CityFest Street Fair   Aug. 11
A huge celebration of community spirit through music, arts, crafts, and food.
Time/Place: 12-11pm / 5th Ave and University Ave

Cardiff Dog Days of Summer   Aug. 11
Watch or enter in 6 different dog contests. Enjoy a wide variety of music throughout the event. A Makers Market row will feature quality handmade goods made by local artisans, and don’t miss the Rescue Row presented by Rancho Coastal Humane Society and Pet Health Expo.

Stone 23nd Anniversary Celebration & Invitational Aug. 16-18
We’ve been throwing anniversary celebrations for more than two decades now. And frankly, we’re pretty good at it – but it can be tough to improve on excellence. So, we took a radical approach this year – we’re expanding the festivities to a three-day event featuring all our US locations. That means more beer for more of you. Cheers to that! Luau and Legends of Surfing Invitational   Aug. 17-18
A friendly competition that draws surf legends from around the world, followed by a festive luau with musical entertainment, a tropical buffet, and live and silent auctions. Surfers, scientists and survivors come together to support the fight against cancer.
Time/Place: 7am-4pm / Scripps Pier, La Jolla

World Bodysurfing Championships   Aug. 17-18
350-400 bodysurfers from around the world compete in their respective age divisions for trophies and prizes. The Men and Women’s Grand Champions will be announced Sunday afternoon on the final day.

Fairy Tale Village   Aug. 17-18
Presented in conjunction with Fairy Tales in the Park, the San Diego Civic Youth Ballet will present the Fairy Tale Village – complete with family activities such as face painting, crafts, meet-and-greets, demonstrations, food and more! We will once again be sustainability-themed.

Americas Finest City Half Marathon & 5k   Aug. 18
Aid stations at 7 locations plus Start & Finish. The expo is held at host hotel Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina.

San Diego Underground Film Festival   Aug. 22-25
A lineup of experimental, documentary, animated, and narrative films which are complimented by nightly expanded cinema performances, installations, and live music.
Time/Place: Tenth Avenue Arts Center, San Diego

San Diego Int’l Kids Film Festival   Aug. 23-25
In addition to the film screenings, as the regular program, the film festival will host an Opening Night Gala, Culture Forums, Industrial Panel Discussions, Screenplay showcase and Red Carpet Award Ceremony.

Orfila’s Annual Grape Stomp   Aug. 24

San Diego Spirits Festival   Aug. 24-25

Bike the Bay   Aug. 25
Cruise around the San Diego Bay and enjoy your only opportunity to ride across the San Diego Coronado Bay Bridge. This non-competitive community bike ride is for riders of all abilities and will take you on a scenic, and primarily flat ride, around the San Diego Bay via the Bayshore Bikeway.

LeucadiART Walk   Aug. 25
Local juried artists displaying original art. Six places for live music! Live mural painting. Craft Beer Garden. New and improved Children’s Art Pavilion.

San Diego Quilt Show   Aug. 29-31
Enjoy hundreds of quilts on display and over 40 vendors featuring everything quilters and others, need, want and love. In addition to all the quilts and vendors, enjoy Raffle Baskets, Daily Door Prizes, Challenges and Kids Scavenger Hunt.

Barona Powwow   Aug. 30-Sep. 1
Join the Barona Band of Mission Indians for a weekend of contest dancing in all categories, camping, drums and cultural immersion.

Labor Day Stickball Tournament   Aug. 31-Sep. 1
Columbia Street erupts with yelling and cheering for the stick ball teams, stirring up childhood memories. Come out and see these teams grab a broom stick, table leg or any other kind of bat-like stick that will send a rubber Wilson ball flying!
Time/Place: 9am-5pm / Little Italy: State St & W Ash St

US Sand Sculpting Challenge & Dimensional Art Expo   Aug. 31-Sep. 2
The sculptures weigh over 10 tons, so we have over 1,000 works of art that you can fall in love with, buy and take home. There is also live entertainment, a sand box and rides for kids, a dozen gourmet food trucks, a fantastic view of the bay and all the great stuff that you always find on the Embarcadero!
Time/Place: Sat & Sun 9am-7pm, Mon 9am-5pm / Broadway Pier and Landing
